Pool volume formulas
Rectangle: length × width × average depth × 7.48. Round: 3.14 × radius² × depth × 7.48. Oval: 3.14 × (length ÷ 2) × (width ÷ 2) × depth × 7.48. The factor 7.48 is the number of US gallons in one cubic foot.
Average depth
For a pool with a sloped floor, add the shallow and deep end depths and divide by 2. A pool 3.5 ft to 8 ft deep has an average depth of 5.75 ft. Measure to the water line, not the top of the wall.
